It is how they should taste, owner Hisham Amleh told the Star. Fried to order, not sat under a hot lamp and not reheated.

The GTA is full of Middle Eastern takeout. The Star's food reporter was driven from North York to Mississauga on a morning specifically to eat these.

Fried-to-order falafels, and many other Middle Eastern treats

Hisham Amleh chased the falafel his mother made, all chickpea and generously spiced. He could not find it in Toronto, so he started a pop-up with his brother.

On the fattet hummus, Doss was unequivocal: “I have not had anything like this anywhere else in the GTA.”

“We cater for any occasion, no matter how big or small your event is.”

Hisham Amleh, owner

He was chasing his mother's falafel.

He could not find it in Toronto, so he started a pop-up with his brother at the Dixie Flea Market. People kept telling him they had never tasted falafel like it. Falafel Plus opened in May 2019.

“So when it comes to the spices, I buy the spices whole. And grind it here in house.” Hisham Amleh · CBC Metro Morning, 2022
